Short answer: these are not really competitors. IT Glue is a documentation platform for an MSP's entire business — passwords, procedures, assets, client contacts. Netplot documents one thing, the network, in more depth than a general platform does, and produces a file you hand to the client. Many MSPs will reasonably use both.
If your problem is "our documentation is scattered across OneNote, spreadsheets and three people's heads", that is IT Glue's problem to solve and Netplot does not solve it.
IT Glue is priced per user with a five-user minimum — at the published $29/user/month that is roughly $1,740 a year before anything else. Network topology with automatic discovery is a separate add-on, Network Glue, at a published $395/month, which is another $4,740 a year plus onboarding.
So the part of the job Netplot does — the network map with port-level detail — is the add-on, and it is the expensive one.
| Netplot | IT Glue (+ Network Glue) | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry cost, first year | €79 once | ≈ $1,740 — $6,500 / year |
| Minimum seats | none | 5 users |
| Port & VLAN detail | core data model | via Network Glue add-on |
| Engineering PDF deliverable | one click | exports, not a drawing set |
| Hand the client a copy that keeps working | yes | no |
| Passwords, SOPs, client records | no — out of scope | yes |
| Permissions & audit trail | file-level only | yes |
| PSA / RMM integrations | no | yes |
| Works with no cloud at all | yes | no |
Choose IT Glue if you are consolidating an MSP's whole documentation practice and need permissions, audit and integrations. Netplot is not a candidate for that job.
Add Netplot if the network maps are the part that keeps being painful, or if a client needs the documentation as something they own rather than something they can read while you pay. At €79 once, it does not need to displace anything to be worth it.
